the ramsey show. we have gone throw a pandemic and rising interest rates. is there a primary reason for americans spending less this year? what does it mean for the economy? well, i think there are a lot of doom and gloom out there and negative statistics. when you walk to the gas pump you still have a heart attack. when you go to the grocery stores. you have the signals if you are a consumer telling you we re in a rough patch right now. when you are doing that smart people pull back and are wise and more careful. we re seeing some of that. yet we did have record black friday and record cyber monday. there are all the mixed signals coming out of retail right now. consumer is healthy. they are out there spending but we re off a little. julie: cyber monday and black friday is when i did all my shopping. a panic before the sales expire
enforcement officers have a tendency to overlook them and then we catch them here. they break into my restrooms and stuff like that. they are looking for a warm place to get in out of the cold or the elements or something of that nature. it does create a lot of damage. law enforcement officials as well as you are concerned about title 42 winding down. do you think the biden administration has a plan in place for when that day comes? you know, from what i ve seen, i don t see no plan in place. i think they are trying to extend it to try to mask the real problem. julie, i will end with this. because this is such a big smuggling area, what officials tell us is that there are the mass migrant caravans coming into areas like yuma and el paso are diversions. border patrol is tied up there and you have smuggling going on in these areas and why fentanyl
guys, is really not a major factor here. we ll see 4 to 6 inches but it is the winds and the temperatures. of course, when you have blizzard conditions like that, kicking up even a few inches of snow you could see drifting and dangerous conditions for travel. on the roads, going to be incredibly dangerous. people should stay off. those white out conditions you won t be able to see 5, 10, 15 feet in front of you. hundreds of flight cancellations already in the chicago area, at o hare in anticipation. amtrak has shut down lines and unfortunately guys, just a couple days before christmas and here we are with a lot of people that may be in a very nasty situation as you see behind me the magnificent mile, michigan avenue. the fleeting moments of shopping happening right now and we re going to be under the lock of mother nature in just a few hours, john.
daniel buck is the author of the new book what is wrong with our schools. that s a loaded question i would love to answer. i will start with governor desantis, he is taking time to step up his fight against these teachers unions. do you agree with desantis that union dues shouldn t be automatically deducted and should teachers be allowed to ocht out? absolutely. they rely a lot on inertia. it is easy to let the check keep coming. desantis s new law forces teachers to think do i want to keep supporting this organization. a lot of the teachers i talked to kind of just support the union because they do but when you show them the policies that the unions are supporting, opposition to charter schools, opposition to school choice, support of really lenient discipline policies teachers don t like that and his new law
expected to travel from now through the end of the year. with those on the road wind and rain will be a big issue as well. people need to be safe. julie: thank you, madison. john: christmas just three days away now. significance of the holiday and why we celebrate it can sometimes get lost in all the noise. cardinal timothy dolan reflects on the meaning of christmas. we celebrate christmas because this time of year the ancient peoples were scared to death saying there is more and more darkness, it is getting chillier and can we count on the sun or have we had it? the sun began to rise, giving people hope. that s why the great old testament prophets would say the people that walked in darkness have seen a great night. a lot of darkness. we don t have to just look out there at the world, at our nation and city. we also look within and we all kind of say hey, i got darkness
