Today, we have an additional 28 deaths. That brings our total to 1568 total deaths statewide. This is really the grimmest part of these updates for everyone on the state of new mexico team. And i know for all new mexicans, i gave personal condolences to some families who shared their information with me this morning in this incredibly painful, of course, these are unnecessary deaths. And we all must do better. I do want to alert folks that in the details of the emails we sent out about the new mexicans we lose to covid, we lost two individuals in their 30s with no underlying conditions. And i dont report this, and we dont put it in our daily updates that go out via email or on our websites and in the media, to provide any more gruesome details about this deadly virus. But to remind everyone, again, it does not care how old you are. What politicale party you are. It does not care what gender you are. This virus can be deadly for anyone. And we lived there for awhile. I lived there until i was probably five or six years old. Then we gradually worked our way out of the lower east side. We move north to the bronx, where i grew up mostly. For a while, we lived in a Community Called Brighton Beach in brooklyn, which is a beautiful place right on the beach in Long Island Sound that many poor russians lived in those days. I would say we were very poor. My father worked as a restaurant worker all his life. My mother worked in the garment industry, so she will take the subway downtown from the bronx every morning to work. My father worked in a cafeterias. My sister roselyn and i were left more or less alone most of our lives. I was pretty much left alone most of the time i was growing. Up that was fine, i loved it because in the bronx, we live right next to bronx park which is a wonderful place for kids to grow up. Theres the bronx zoo and the botanical gardens. And this oral history recorded in 2012, by the national will work to museum, army veteran, eugene disabatino, talks about his assignments to the manhattan project, which included being stationed at loss alamos and working while the bomb dropped over nagasaki. My family had a Construction Business there, which was quite old, it is still in business.
