Prince Philip, husband to England’s Queen Elizabeth, has died at age 99. As his death makes worldwide news, it’s also stirred memories here – the other London – of his visits to the Forest City over his decades of royal life. He was here in 1951 and 1959 with the Queen, and again in 1983. Here are several photos from the LFP Archives of those memorable visits:

Prince Philip took a moment on July 1, 1983 to chat with Londoner Velda Andrew after the opening of the Royal Canadian Regiment’s 100th anniversary reunion. (The blue markings were part of the newspaper editing process, common on old photos.)
