Cars parked all around the Jefferson Street church sported the flyers on their windshields. Someone stopped by service stations or even barber shops, in order to let people know what we were doing here, in order for them to come, Clarke said.
Church members came. Neighbors came. So did members of affiliated churches like Jacquelyn Green.
Green s afraid of anything that has to do with needles, she said. But her pastor, the Rev. Kimberly McMichael of Greater Gaines Chapel AME Church convinced her to come. As a matter of fact, she called and made the appointment, said Green as she awaited her shot with a touch of trepidation.
