Award winning bluegrass recording artist Lorraine Jordan and members of her Carolina Road band were in Buffalo over the weekend for two concerts at the Occidental Saloon as part of a four-day spring jam session.
Known as the “Lady of Tradition, she explained that her visit to the Occidental Hotel and Saloon was long overdue to accept the invitation from Occidental owner and renowned songwriter, David Stewart.
Two gold records grace the walls of the saloon in recognition for Stewart’s collaboration with Jordan over the past couple of years.

CAPE ELIZABETH – Randall Wells Jordan, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021 at his daughter Lorraine’s home in Windham after a short illness with his family by his side.
He was born on April 27, 1926 in Portland, the son of Pomeroy Dyer Jordan and Ivy May (Jenks) Jordan.
Raney lived in Cape Elizabeth and attended Cape Elizabeth schools. He spent his childhood working on the family farm (Jordan’s Farm) on Wells Road alongside his parents and siblings. He was the youngest of nine children, Dwight Jordan, Dorothy (Jordan) Miller, Kenneth Jordan, Emma (Jordan) Kennedy, Norma (Jordan) Wainwright, William Jordan, Chadwick Jordan, and Barbara (Jordan) Conley.
A major event usually takes several years to really take hold, and spring is traditionally loaded with them. But a full calendar got wiped out a year ago by the coronavirus almost before anything could begin.
Heading into spring 2021, the situation is looking decidedly better. New cases are way down compared to January and February spikes. At the same time, vaccination rates are on the way up, and state restrictions are loosening up just a bit.
With all that in mind, organizers are again warily eyeing the calendar and other dynamics to see whether to try and move forward with their events.
