Lancaster County residents might travel during the holidays. Many make it a point to be home on New Yearâs Day so they can make a batch of pork and sauerkraut or buy meals from one of the local fire companies and churches that host Jan. 1 meals.
âWeâre going to be out of town . but weâll be back for the pork and sauerkraut,â says Dean Evans, of Lancaster. On New Yearâs Day, Evans likes to go to St. Joseph Catholic Church for its pork and sauerkraut meal.
