Kim, who works as the enterprise manager at Alpaca, brings to the board an expertise in finance, IT and accounting. Having first learned about IVYP’s after school programming, Kim said it is important for children to have a safe, responsive and reliable place to turn to.
”I decided to join IVYP because I felt that the organization has a strong vision for the future on how to serve the community, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt,” said Kim.
Robledo, a licensed clinical social worker, works as the community services program manager for Cottage Health. He learned more about IVYP through a series of community conversations led by the organization and was inspired by its mission and values.

Finding fitness
Peter Goodspeed, 70, of Richardson began running in 1972 to get ready for his U.S. Army boot camp. After completing his military service during the Vietnam War, he ran three miles every day, and he continued running through marriage and family life. He would run with his son, who was on a cross country team. “We completed over 120 5Ks at White Rock Lake during the course of six years. Afterwards, we would go to Denny’s for the Grand Slam,” Goodspeed says.
Largest Coal-fired Power Plant in U.S. West Demolished
PAGE, Arizona, December 19, 2020 (ENS) – For 45 years the Navajo Generating Station was the largest coal-fired power plant in the western United States – a 2.25-gigawatt facility located on the Navajo Nation, near Lake Powell in Arizona that spread air pollution far and wide. In November 2019, the plant ended commercial generation, and on Friday, its three tall smokestacks all went down in smoke.

The Navajo Generating Station’s smokestacks, as tall as a 77 story-building, were demolished in a single explosive blast. In addition to the stacks, the 199-foot high steel-frame Unit 3 electro-static precipitator, which captured fly ash so it would not be emitted into the atmosphere, was simultaneously demolished.

Following the passing of longtime âJeopardy!â host Alex Trebek in November, fans and contestants worldwide took to social media to honor Trebekâs life and legacy â including the UC Santa Barbara community. For the UCSB and Isla Vista community members who met Trebek while on âJeopardy!,â the memories that they have shared with him will endure for a lifetime.
Lori Goodman, the executive director of Isla Vista Youth Projects (IVYP), appeared on Jeopardy in September 2018. She took first place in the contest â winning a total of $36,401, but said it was Trebekâs value in education and mentality for growth that she recalls most.Â
