Lorenzo Thomas’ first memory after waking up in John Peter Smith Hospital (JPS) was hearing a Fort Worth police officer talking to a nearby medical worker.
“We did one chest compression” on him, Thomas alleges officer Daniel Hafer told the medical worker.

That sums up a busy Wednesday night for Bossier City police who were stretched for hours from Old Minden Road to the Shady Grove area. Police determined the two incidents were not related but both are still under investigation.Â
It all started around 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Chimi V s at 2050 Old Minden Road. An off-duty Bossier City detective who was driving through the area witnessed the gunfire.
She began following a suspect vehicle until marked police units arrived in the area. Police initiated a vehicle stop. The driver didn t pull over but continued through the Patricia Park and the Barksdale Annex neighborhoods before crashing the vehicle on Burchett Street and Evans Street.

An appeal date for Mavado’s incarcerated son, Dantay Brooks, may soon be set as well-known Queen’s counsel Peter Champagnie, the attorney representing Brooks, revealed that he is awaiting the transcript of his client’s trial.
Champagnie is confident that an appeal date will be set soon after its receipt.
“The registry of the Court of Appeal has already communicated to me in writing to confirm my representation of Mr Brooks for the appeal,” Champagnie was quoted as saying in the Jamaica Observer.
“Given the much-improved rate in terms of timeline at which appeals are now being heard, it is my anticipation that as soon as the transcript from the trial is available a date will be given for the hearing of the matter,” the Queen’s Counsel continued.
