Joseph Awaida, Raihan Dakhil Awaida and their 3-year-old son, Omar were killed by a DUI driver on Halloween night 2019. The owners of a Long Beach liquor store pleaded guilty Wednesday to giving a minor the liquor that led to the crash.

Long Beach lost a big part of its history this year with the deaths of three former councilmembers, a state Assemblywoman and Senator, and others who made a big impact on the city: a leader in the Cambodian community, a longtime strawberry farmer, a Filipina chef, the owner of a shoeshine stand and a former gang detective.
Ray Cash, 53, was found on the sidewalk at about 11:50 p.m. with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
