Fashion industry hails CMA’s greenwashing guidance
Fashion brands and retailers have said the UK competition watchdog s draft guidance about green claims is a step in the right direction.
Earlier this week, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) released a draft of six principles businesses, including fashion brands, must follow when making environmental claims. The guidelines state they must be; truthful and accurate, must be clear and unambiguous, must not omit or hide important information, must only make fair and meaningful comparisons, must consider the full life cycle of the product, and must be substantiated.
The CMA will now enter a consultation period on the draft guidelines until 16 July with the final guidance expected to be released at the end of September.
