Retreat from Home is a monthly online event that combines the practices of yoga and life drawing to create a relaxing escape in the comfort of your own home. To begin, an instructor will guide you through a 50-minute
yoga session to build some energy and heat before participants fl ow through to a more refl ective, meditative, relaxing practise. Following the yoga session, students will take a short break to grab their drawing materials, before settling to draw. The event is being presented by London Drawing Group (LDG). Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was a revolutionary and one of the most influential artists of the early 20th-century, best known for his delightfully fluid drawing style and exquisite use of colour, particularly in his simplistic cut-out works. Spanning a six-decade career, Matisse worked in all forms of media, from painting, sculpture, to printmaking.
National Gallery Singapore presents Coke Bolipata
FOR the last session of its Art + Live | Resonates program, the National Gallery of Singapore will present a performance by Filipino violinist Alfonso “Coke” Bolipata on its Facebook page on Dec. 19, 3 p.m. Bolipata will perform a repertoire of music that responds to the works of Filipino artists in the gallery’s collection, which includes
Mother Nature’s Bounty Harvest, a collaboration between three renowned Filipino artists, Victorio C Edades, Galo B Ocampo, and Carlos “Botong” Francisco. Bolipata will be presenting three pieces related to the coming of Spring, together with kids from the Pundaquit Virtuosi ensemble.
