ISLAMABAD: The capital administration on Thursday lifted the restriction of timings on commercial activities and amusement parks.
The ban was lifted in compliance with the directions of the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC). A notification issued from the office of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat said the time limits had been lifted from commercial activities and amusement parks.
Besides, condition of 50 per cent work from home is also removed, it said.
Cinemas and shrines are allowed to open with stringent Covid-19 safety measures from March 15, the notification stated, adding indoor wedding ceremonies will also be allowed from March 15 with the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

ISLAMABAD: The government is aiming to achieve herd immunity by vaccinating 70 million people against Covid-19 by the end of the current year. About 30 million people will be vaccinated by September.
This was stated by representatives of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) about the ruling party’s policy on vaccination and management of the impact of Covid-19 on education and economy at a session organised by Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (Pildat) at a local hotel on Thursday.
Party’s central joint secretary Mussadiq Ghumman, parliamentary secretary national health services Dr Nausheen Hamid and others attended the session.
IGP orders crackdown on drug peddlers

Islamabad : Inspector General of Police Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman has directed all police officials to launch massive crackdown on drug pushers, wine sellers and those involved in immoral activities.
He directed DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar to monitor overall performance of police officials in this regard and curb anti-social activities with massive action against the outlaws.
The IGP said that strict action should be taken against those involved in drug peddling activities and directed for launching crackdown against drug pushers and register cases against those involved in such heinous crime.
The IGP said that no influence can be tolerated in massive crackdown against criminals as action would speak louder and no discrimination to be made.
Efforts afoot to make Islamabad safest city: SSP
Islamabad, February 06, 2021 (PPI-OT): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Syed Mustafa Tanvir on Saturday said efforts were afoot to make Islamabad safest city as it was foremost priority of the federal capital police. Following directions of IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman, DIG (Operations) Islamabad Afzaal Ahmed Kausar assigned task to SSP (Operations) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer for effective action against those involved in anti-social activities.
SP (Rural-Zone) Rana Abdul Wahab constituted police team under the supervision of DSP Mubarak Ali including SHO Khanna police station Sub-inspector Kamal Khan and others. This team arrested a wanted member of street criminal gang identified as Danish and recovered snatched cash, mobile phone weapons used in crime.
ISLAMABAD: The capital police have detained seven alleged land grabbers under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance 1960.
The police are also trying to trace the whereabouts of four other persons, who went into hiding to avoid their arrest.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat said action was being taken against those considered threat to public peace. Reports were sought from Special Branch over these suspects as a number of complaints had been received against them. Besides, a couple of cases were also registered against them in different police stations, he added.
Officials of the capital administration and police told Dawn that the arrests were made in response to a directive from the prime minister. Earlier, a man complained to the prime minister that he was a retired official and owned a piece of land at Ghouri Town, Islamabad. He said his land had been occupied by land grabbers and he was unable to retrieve it.
