bomb attack. police say smoke started coming from an suv. still running with no driver in sight. then you heard this little pop, pop, pop, pop, almost like a fire cracker going off and stuff. and then sparks inside. everybody went running. we were scared, didn t know what to do. police cleared times square saturday night, lining the streets with barricades, keeping people away from shows. . a bomb squad went in, carefully removing pre-pain tanks, fireworks, two gasoline tanks, wires to connect it all. eight bags of an unknown powder, and a large 2-pound metal gun case that would have acted as shrapnel if the bomb would have detonated. luckily, for some unknown reason, the bomb malfunctioned. it was the attempt of anyone who did this to create casualties. the taliban claimed responsibility, but investigators say there is no evidence of that. they also found the suv and plates do not match up. appears the plates came from a junk yard and the suv from a dealership both
