Estonia should rent its own LNG floating storage terminal this winter to increase its security of supply, Minister for Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Riina Sikkut (SDE) suggested on Thursday. To do this the state and private sector should work together, she added.
The LNG floating terminal jointly leased by Estonia and Finland left Argentina for Europe last week and will be docked either in Paldiski or Finland, depending on where work is completed first. According to Martti Talgre, the managing director at Infortar AS, there should be no doubt at this point that the ship will arrive in Paldiski, as Estonia will have reception capacity sooner.
The state and the private sector are still hammering out the details on the construction of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal at the port of Paldiski, with state grid distributor Elering saying it needs exact details on a vessel to be procured for the purpose, before it can put in place the short connection pipe between ship and shore.
