Thank you for joining us here on kron. 4 news at 2. Im justine waldman. Were going to begin with the 3 people who are hurt during a shooting at a High School Graduation ceremony in the east bay kron fours terisa stasio joins us now live from the newsroom with information on the investigation. Also, shes just found out with the stool school is doing and has details on this arrest. I we are now learning one person has been arrested in the shooting and authorities continue to search for other suspects as well as other guns involved. Heres what we know right now. The School District now telling us that graduation had ended, but there were still many people out on the fie
Today are dipping into the 60s for a lot of us that had been in the 80s just a couple of days ago. Were looking outside at a little bit of fog pushing in from the coastline. In fact, some really rapid fog formation off the san mateo coast this morning and a pretty generous onshore breeze. You can see that pushing in towards the coast right now. Most of it is low cloud cover. So visibility has been okay. But you just got kind of a grey start to the morning and a cool windy feel to it. Temperatures currently are in the 40s to 50s oakland and berkeley 51 wall dublin at 52. Some 40s up in the north bay to start things out later on today. A lot of 60s and only a few low 70s and tomorrow, just as cool. If not even cooler. Ill talk more in your forecast as we rain. All right, john, thank you for get you moving on a friday and conditions are still pretty light. 15 minutes for everybody headed into the city this morning. No accidents on your bridges. 14 minute ride on the san mateo bridge. Rich
Bridge. All right. So lets bring in abc seven news meteorologist andy patel. Yes, sandy is here to tell us exactly how long this heat will last. Sandy. Yeah, and dan and emma is just one more day for some of our bayside and inland communities of this heat. Let me show you a live picture. It was a picture perfect setting for the blue angels. Just nothing but blue skies, no fog and a record setting at that. Three cities actually tied their previous records. San jose, 95, oakland, downtown 93 and sfo 92 degrees. All right. It was hot elsewhere, as you will notice, 98 in fairfield, mid 90s for places like napa, santa rosa, concord, livermore, 97 in santa cruz, 95. In redwood city, it was 89 in fremont and 85 degrees in half moon bay. Right now were still feeling it. Its warm out there 80s and 90s. That heat advisory has been extended for one more day for areas shaded in orange until 11 p. M. Tomorrow as that heat risk will remain in the moderate to high category. For those who are sensitiv
It takes up more room than the actual article itself. Want to introduce the subject of this next session which is this booklet here. Its called transform which is very beautiful and its about an initiative that we were privileged to fund called exploring innovation frontier. I want to give a shout out to promote the head of our engineering director at the time a few years ago when we made the decision to fund this. He has gone on to uc irvine where he is a vice chancellor for research. During this time there have been several workshops around the country and ill say a few words about that and then you will hear from two of the people that were greatly involved in those workshops more about this. Let me make now that ive kind of introduced the subject of basic research, leading to innovation and leading to engineering applications, let me make some formal remarks. I will just begin with the quote from our inspiration of the National Science foundation who believed that there must be a s
More now from the National Competitiveness forum with the focus on Public Private partnerships and manufacturing. This is an hour and a half. Good morning, everyone. Its great to be back with the council again. So i only have half a voice, im afraid. I left the other half in stockholm a couple days ago. I was very privileged to get to attend the nobel prize ceremonies because the National Science association supported the 3 physicists that won the prize for Gravitational Waves for 40 years. I think thats a good place to start. [ applause ] its good for all of us to appreciate just what a high risk high reward investment is all about. So that was a progress of technology and super duper engineering challenges that had to be overcome. A lot of people, as you might guess, came and went. It involved multidisciplinary teams of people who did the numerical relativity using Super Computers so we actually knew when the first gravitational wave was detected, what the source was, that it was two
