Musical acts take over the stages this weekend with shows ranging from country to doo-wop to BeeGees – all guaranteed for a toe-tapping good time.
Plays return to the theaters in May with The Melon Patch performing “Play it Again, Sam” May 7-23 and “Shady Business” at the Sonnentag Theatre at the IceHouse May 14-June 6.
Opry Night
Them Sweeney Boys are on stage at 7 p.m. Friday for Opry Night at the Living Drama Theatre in Eustis.
Tickets are $18 adults and $15 for military, first responders, seniors and students.

The Best of Michael Russo
The old hits never sounded so good with The Best of Michael Russo Saturday and Sunday at the Historic State Theatre in Eustis. Russo’s line-up includes doo-wop, Motown, 70’s old school soul jams, and fabulous songs from the disco era that will have you dancing in the aisles. Songs include hits from Paul Anka, Neil Sedaka, The Buckinghams, Jay and the Americans, Classic IV, The Spinners, Tom Jone
And, on a more cheerful note, take in the Bee Gees tribute Stayin’ Alive Saturday in Clermont

“Peace, Love and Murder”
Get your 60s groove on at the “Peace, Love and Murder” murder mystery dinner show 6 p.m. Saturday at Blooms Baking House and Restaurant in Leesburg.
It’s 1968 in the hippy commune of Unity Acres as they welcome the newest members with a Peace, Love and Munchies dinner. The transcendental evening is interrupted when a member of the commune meets an untimely death.

The musical “Tick, Tick… Boom!” finishes its run on Sunday at the Historic State Theatre in Eustis.
“Goodnight Gracie” by the Tavares Theater Company has added two final shows this weekend.
Exes and a wedding is the formula for laughs in the comedy “One Slight Hitch” by the IceHouse Players in Mount Dora.

The musical “Tick, Tick… Boom!” closes Sunday at the Historic State Theatre in Eustis.
Written by the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning author of “Rent,” Jonathan Larson, it’s a semi-autobiographical story is based on an aspiring composer in New York City who is worried he made the wrong career choice.
On Stage: Leesburg, Eustis theater groups wrap up 2020 with a laugh

Live shows are wrapping up for the holidays and the year this week with two comedies, “Rumors” by the Melon Patch Players in Leesburg, and “Making God Laugh,” a holiday-themed production at the Living Drama Theatre in Eustis.
Also performing this week are the Bay Street Players Young People’s Theatre with two virtual Zoom performances of “Little Women” today and Friday and live performances of Festive Holiday Melodies: A YPT Holiday Cabaret Saturday and Sunday.
Look ahead to January with three productions to start off the new year.
