oh, my god. it just melts in your mouth. i m stanley tucci, i m fascinated by my italian heritage. so, i m travelling across italy to discover how the food, in each of this country s twenty regions, is as unique as the people and their past. the creations of famous tuscans are known the world over. michaelangelo, i think if he were to come back today, he d be able to walk around florence. it hasn t changed. but it s the hands of the ordinary people. we fold it like this. that have crafted the incredible food here. it s like a christmas in your mouth. yeah. this is a place built on human ingenuity, mind-boggling riches and an insane amoutn of bread. i really don t know how. it s delicious but so hot. all great love affairs start somewhere. and for me, my love of italy started right here in florence when i was just 20 years old. you have to taste that. like this tartlet filled with rice pudding. i mean come on, there s always something wonderful to discover
26 man squad for germany. good evening from normandy where world leaders havejoined some of the last remaining veterans to mark the 80th anniversary of the d day landings. at the british normandy memorial this morning, a service of commemoration attended by more than a0 british veterans overlooking one of the beaches where allied troops first came ashore on 6thjune 191m british, american, canadian and french troops landed along this coastline on beaches that were named sword, juno, gold, omaha and utah more than 150,000 men fought in the d day landings. it was the largest ever seaborne invasion. there ve been events right along this coastline and this afternoon at omaha beach an international event attended by the us president and ukraine s president zelensky. our first report comes from our correspondent daniela relph. bagpipes. memories fade. the living testimonies dwindle. but at dawn today, on the beaches of normandy, they remembered. making their own 80th anniversary n
so i was very glad i did. what does it mean to you to be here today? well, it s really very moving because it s such an amazing, big memorial. so i had no idea what it was going to be like. and it s so enormous. and all these names down on the pillars, and all these little statues, really, each representing so many of our own men who died. aged 18, i9, 20, 21, all that sort of age when they were so valuable as soldiers and everything else. we have to remember them for always. now on her way home again. we have had the most wonderful weather here in normandy today. louise lear can tell us more about the weather prospects everywhere else.

Jean Dubuffet: impish master of perpetual reinvention Laura Cumming
A writer, visiting the French artist Jean Dubuffet in 1956, was taken by surprise. “Dubuffet is here, in flowery hat and socks with green polka dots. He no longer paints with butter, cement or bitumen, but with shoemaker’s glue.” Period photographs show him as a lithe Ariel experimenting with coal dust, quick-drying enamel, fragments of glass, even sand and butterfly wings – a magnificent changeling darting about the studio.
Along with Giacometti, Beuys and Bacon, Dubuffet (1901-85) is one of the great artists of postwar Europe: zany, free, perpetually reinventing himself and our idea of modern art. So it seems almost impossible that the forthcoming Barbican retrospective should be the first here in half a century. But Dubuffet wasn’t entirely loved even in France to begin with.
