Works to pedestrianise 17 streets in the city centre get underway next week The streets were temporarily pedestrianised last summer to allow for outdoor dining and social distancing.
Resurfacing works will get underway on Caroline street, Pembroke Street, Oliver Plunkett Street, Cook Street and Maylor Street on April 12th.
Similar works are due to take place on Paul street, St Peter and Paul s Place, Little Ann Street and Little Cross Street on April 19th.
Traders in these areas are encouraged to arrange deliveries for before 9:30am as the streets will be closed to vehicles once the works get underway.
Pedestrians will be able to access all of the streets for the duration of the works.

AFTER A SUCCESSFUL run last summer, 17 streets in Cork city will be permanently opened up to pedestrians.
Last summer, these streets were temporarily pedestrianised to accommodate social distancing and outdoor dining.
Cork City Council said residents reacted positively to this initiative and works will now begin to “enhance” the surfaces of some of the 17 streets to be pedestrianised.

CorkCity Council will begin works next week to facilitate the permanent pedestrianisation of 17 city centre streets which were temporarily pedestrianised last summer in order to facilitate social distancing and outdoor dining.
The City Council and contractors Lagan Asphalt Ltd will begin resurfacing works on Caroline Street, Pembroke Street, Oliver Plunkett Street, Cook Street and Maylor Street on April 12th.
Weather dependent, similar works are expected to begin on Paul Street, St Peter and Paul’s Place, Little Ann Street and Little Cross Street the following week with the remaining streets to follow.
After this was met with a positive reaction, Cork City Council has agreed to now permanently pedestrianise them.
The council, and its contractors Lagan Asphalt Ltd, will begin resurfacing works on Caroline Street, Pembroke Street, Oliver Plunkett Street, Cook Street and Maylor Street on 12 April.
Depending on the weather, similar works are expected to begin on Paul Street, St. Peter and Paul’s Place, Little Ann Street and Little Cross Street on 19 April.
In a statement, Cork City Council said that on these dates, traders are encouraged to arrange deliveries for before 9.30am as once works begin, the streets will be inaccessible to vehicles.
