Gugino’s attorneys filed the federal lawsuit Monday in U.S. District Court. The 55-page complaint alleges Gugino’s civil rights were violated when officers pushed him to the ground and injured him outside City Hall following a racial justice protest last June.
“He s seeking compensation for severe injuries he suffered as a result of being a victim of police violence,” said Richard Weisbeck, one of Gugino’s attorneys from the Buffalo law firm Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria, “and he wants to continue to protect and reinforce his constitutional rights and the rights of his fellow citizens to be able to walk into public places and have their voices heard.”

New York to Release Plans for Large Venues to Reopen

It looks like we are getting one-step closer to reopening large venues here in New York. According to WIVB, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today, that the State would soon be releasing guidelines. During a COVID-19 update today, Tuesday, February 9, 2021, the Governor spoke about plans to reopen large venues. He said the State is using the Buffalo Bills playoff games as models. The plan is to have attendees of sporting or other events with large crowds get tested prior to entering the venues. The large venue reopening guidelines should be available next week.
New York State's Governor, Andrew Cuomo, has lifted the Yellow Zone and Orange Zone restrictions in Western New York. However, one hotly contested restriction will stay in place.
