The Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival took place Friday and Saturday, helping to spark some friendly competition and raise money for local charities.
The Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival is the principal fundraising event for the Lions Sick Children’s Fund, serving families in the counties of Westmorland, Albert & Kent. Over the last 13 years the Festival has raised over $1,000,000 that has gone to support not only Sick Kids but 71 other.

Organizers have decided to cancel for 2021 due to the pandemic.
Co-Chair Norval McConnell says the supplier of their equipment won’t be getting any boats onto the water for festivals until late summer or early fall.
He says they also cannot guarantee the safety of their teams under Public Health guidelines.
The Festival raises money for the Lions Sick Children’s Fund.
The Dragon Boat Festival is expected to return in Spring 2022.
