A truck driver banned from travelling on a passenger ferry service for a year after the transport company said he swore at staff when he took off his mask while a customer during a Covid outbreak has blasted the decision as extreme .
Michael Thompson, who lives on Russell Island, Queensland, was told by Sealink Bay Islands his behaviour on board their vessels on two occasions in January had led to the 12-month ban - including one incident were police were called.
Mr Thompson was also issued with a $130-on-the-spot fine by cops. Masks were mandatory in Greater Brisbane in all settings outside the home at the time after a hotel quarantine cleaner contracted Covid.
