Chopped 420 : Emerald Triangle chef on cannabis-based cooking show

The pot was boiling on the Food Network s Chopped 420 series Tuesday when an Anderson chef tried to smoke the competition. Woodside Grill executive chef Lindsey Penland is featured on “Chopped 420,” a cannabis-based cooking show where chefs compete for a $10,000 prize. “It was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done,” said Penland, who grew up in Happy Valley. The restaurant, located next to the Gaia Hotel & Spa in Anderson, hosted a viewing party for Penland on 4/20, an unofficial stoner holiday for the cannabis community. Penland was eliminated from the competition during the appetizer round. Her dish was a spot prawn and loaded baked potato tostada with pickled red onions and salsa verde. She used a THC-infused olive oil and a CBD-infused apple cider vinegar.
