The honorable james r klapper who will address the issues and challenges that emerged in the Korean Peninsula and National Security. Mr. Klapper is the fourth and the longest tenured u. S. Director of National Intelligence from august 2010 to january, 2017. In this, led the u. S. Intelligence committee and served as the principal intelligence advisor to president barack obama and retired in 1995 after a career in the u. S. Armed forces. It began in 1961 when jim enlisted in the u. S. Marine corps reserves. It culminated as Lieutenant General and the u. S. Air force as the 11th director of the Defense Intelligence agency. Following his retirement, jim worked in industry with superlative distinctions. He returned two days after 9 11 as the third director of the National Agency and served in this capacity for almost five years, transforming it into the National Special intelligence agency, as it is today. His numerous awards include three National Intelligence distinguished service medals
