Ameren seeks input on new energy pathway

Staff report Ameren Illinois LINCOLN, IL – Ameren Illinois is hosting two virtual open houses to inform the public about a new energy investment for Logan County, Illinois. The proposed Logan County Connector Project consists of an approximately 6- to 10-mile transmission line and substation upgrades designed to improve energy reliability for the area. The Logan County Connector Project team will host two virtual open houses to present an overview of the project and give the public an opportunity to provide input on the Route Alternatives. A telephone public meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 21 and a virtual Webex meeting will take place at noon Thursday, April 22. Each meeting will include a brief presentation on the project, a Q&A session and an explanation of how the public can provide input.

Lincoln Woman s Club holds meeting at Lincoln Banquet Center

The Courier Jim Streubing, University of Illinois Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Volunteer, will address members of the Lincoln Woman s Club at their Wednesday Mar. 17 meeting. His topic is Bugs, Birds and Bergamot. LWC president Judy Rader will conduct the business meeting. The slate of officer nominees for 2021-22 will be read. The 17th is the last day for members to turn in ticket money for the Apr. 7 schnitzel sandwich sale, being held in connection with the Sons of the American Legion. The club meets at 1 pm Mar. 17 at the Lincoln Banquet Center. Members of the Woman s Club Board of Directors are hostesses, with Susan Rohrer and Mary Gleason serving as greeters. Carol Grunder will lead the devotions, and Ruth Green and Marla Williams will supply raffle prizes. Ellen Dobihal, Darla Rohrer and Lynn Corley are in charge of decorations.

CAPCIL Cheeseburger event scheduled May 1 The Courier Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois biggest fundraiser “Cheeseburger in Paradise” is planning to return in 2021. The annual event is scheduled from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1 at the Lincoln Banquet Center, 201 Madigan Dr., in Lincoln. CAPCIL Director of Agency Development, Breann Titus said the 2020 event was cancelled due to the pandemic and the agency felt the loss. “This event is a fun night for our community supporters to celebrate the agency’s impact and success. This event also provides vital financial resources each year that help us maintain program success, provide crisis or emergency services, and helps us through challenging times including funding delays. This event is the cornerstone of our agency fundraising efforts,” said Titus.
