The Climate Award issued by the Belgian newspaper, Het Belang van Limburg, goes this year to the Limburg-based brick manufacturer Vandersanden. Receiving this accolade is a well-deserved reward for the family-run business and recognises its efforts spanning a period of over 15 years in the area of sustainability.?
The decision has been made. The family business Nelissen Steenfabrieken may pin on the title of ‘Limburg Entrepreneur of the Year’. The brickmaker from Kesselt (Lanaken) made it to the finals against Tribù and Umami Group.
Hasselt - This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award in the context of the Limburg Entrepreneur of the Year goes posthumously to Baroness Tony Baert. This remarkable lady who was an integral part of the newspaper’s management team for some 70 years died on 13 April.
Optiflux, located on the Greenville campus in Houthalen-Helchteren, has been selected as Limburg Start-Up of the Year. The company has developed a technology that allows fruit to be preserved more effectively, with lower losses and reduced energy costs.
Nelissen Steenfabrieken in Lanaken is preparing for a sustainable future with a bold investment plan of at least 100 million euros. If all goes well, a new factory for bricks with ovens running on hydrogen will be created on an adjacent plot of land in Kesselt around 2027. This should provide 75 additional jobs.
