LIC s stock climbed 1.9% on Tuesday, to close at its highest level since its IPO in May 2022. The climb over the past 10 months has coincided with a broader surge in Indian equities thats added some $30 billion to LICs market value.
With Thursday s jump in LIC shares, the second-largest PSU by market cap, surged another 19 per cent this week. During the day, LIC shares hit a 52-week high of Rs 800 on the NSE and Rs 799.90 BSE, breaching the Rs 5 lakh crore market cap of the state-owned insurer.
Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), the country s largest insurer, on Tuesday made a lacklustre debut on the stock exchanges. The listing price was below the price at which shares were allotted to LIC s policyholders, employees and retail investors. Its share listed at over 8 per cent discount on the NSE and BSE against the issue price of Rs 949. LIC share was listed at Rs 867.20 on the NSE, showing a discount of Rs 77 apiece.
