In san jose, tonight marks the end of really indescribable week for peoples homes flooded. Parts of rock springs, the south bend mobile parks opened back up to evacuated residents this afternoon. North bound center road is also back open tonight. The evacuation area includes 3,000 people, and 765 homes, down from 1100 yesterday. The process were going through to get them back in, a lot has to do with ensuring the building is safe, and ensuring we can have power and water service. Of fremont street in concord. Sky7 was over the home where a year and a half old shepherd mix named charlie reportedly attacked the 10monthold child. His mother was in a room nearby. The child sustained injuries to his head. 911 was called, and he was rushed to the hospital. Abc7 News Reporter Laura Anthony spoke with Concord Police about what happened. Very tense and a very scary scene when they were getting this call. When we get here, the dog is actually still running freely throughout the yard. One of our Biggest Challenges was getting to that child, getting that child out safely without having one of our officers get charged by the dog. We were able to successfully do that. The child is doing pretty well now, but unfortunately that dog was neutralized by one of our officers. Reporter Concord Police shot and killed a family dog that moments earlier attacked a 10monthold boy. The dog was very aggressive actually. Took an aggressive stance toward our officer. And thats why our officer discharged his firearm. Reporter an officer ran inside to get the baby. When the officer pulled him out, quite the emotional scene. Having to wrap his head. Reporter the boy underwent surgery at oakland Childrens Hospital after suffering bites to the head. Hes expected to be okay. But his 7yearold brother is struggling after witnessing the traumatic attack. The 7yearold started screaming, which caught moms attention. Mom came in there, was able to pull the child away and prevent any further attack. And that probably saved his life. Reporter the German Shepherd mastiff mix named charlie was 80 pounds. The mother stepped out of the room for a moment before the attack happened. Talking to mom, sounds like the dog never had any never showed any signs of aggression before in the past
