The next generation of Town stars were inducted into the academy on Friday evening at the club s Playford Road Training Centre. Town are taking on eight boys ahead of next season.
Schoolboy Edward Upson scored a dramatic 118th minute goal to bring the FA Youth Cup to Town for the first time in 30 years. The 15-year-old lashed a loose ball past Southampton keeper Andrew Neil from just outside the area with the goalless second leg appearing destined for penalties.
Richard Naylor turned from gamekeeper to poacher to score the winner for Town s reserves at home to Fulham. Naylor, who had started the game at centre-back, moved up front in the second half and scrambled home the game s only goal on 80 minutes.
