Law enforcement agencies in the Midlands are struggling to find enough officers to fill positions.  Some agencies in the Midlands have begun to provide financial incentives as a way to encourage candidates to apply.  Law enforcement is like we compete with each other, said Captain Kevin Blackmon, Lexington County Sheriffs Department. Everybody has a need for good employees and everybody gets creative in ways to do it and that s one things the county sheriff and county council fought for.

(WIS) - A Leesville man has been arrested after officials received reports that he allegedly broke into a home. Benjamin Yon, 41, has been charged with 1st-degree burglary. “We received a call from the victim stating Yon was inside her gated neighborhood Tuesday night,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Deputies spotted Yon’s vehicle where the victim told them it would be. Yon said he was waiting for the victim to return home when he was located by deputies.”

(WIS) - A Lexington County man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for committing sex crimes against a child. Donald Price, 50, pled guilty to 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and 2nd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. On May 16, 2016, Special Investigator Kevin Atkins with the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office began an investigation into the online distribution of child pornography, according to reports. Inv. Atkins identified Price as a user of a file-sharing network that was distributing child pornography. Inv. Atkins then referred the case to Sergeant Adam Creech with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
