A United Elementary student was recently named in the top 10 of statewide elementary divisions in a financial literacy contest.
The Pennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy announced United Elementary fifth grader Remington Roddek was a top finisher in its Stock Market Challenge. The competition, also held at the school and regional levels, teaches kids about how to invest in stocks, make stock market trades, analyze markets and build stock market portfolios through a competition against other students.
The program was sponsored by S&T Bank. Roddek was assisted in the competition by teacher Craig Bytner. Roddek moved out of the district after the end of the contest, according to elementary principal Lewis Kindja
