If you must hit the roads, freezing rain early today will work its way eastward and eventually transition to light snow in and around sioux city later this morning with strong north winds which will cause some low visibilities. Because the freezing rain will last longer in southern siouxland, the ice accumululion will be greater with up to a quarterinch of ice expected, hence the winter storm warning for that area. As for snow accumulations, its still looking like most places will receive around 13 inches by the time the system exits the viewing area to the east by 78 oclock this evening. Sioux city police say theyve seen a recent rash of car burglaries, and car thefts in the metro. Investigators have logged more than 200 car burglaries since october 1st. More than 60 of those cars were also stolen. The vast majority have been located within a couple blocks of when theyve been taken, zach lewis said. So it seems like the motivation is just to be able to go through the vehicle. Sometimes those vehicles are being used to commit other car burglaries. The majority of the crimes have been by one group of people that police are actively investigating. Those thieves have hit areas east of lewis boulevard, the north side and leeds. Autumns mother says she is upset about the judges decision but theres nothing the family can do about it. Its very unfortunate that judge jacobson took it upon himself to change what was very clearly written out in a plea agreement i dont think its in his place at all to reconsider the sentence.
