It was a trip on the Luas that helped land a key component on Rachael Lavelle’s debut album. For months, the Dubliner had been thinking that she needed a voice other than her own to recite some of the spoken-word lyrics, but her ideas had started to run dry. Then she was struck by the calm, measured tones of the recorded announcements on the light rail service “An chéad stad eile, Margadh na Feirme; next stop, Smithfield” and decided there and then that this was the voice she needed.
