A Sydney coronavirus cluster has halted the trial of a former swimming instructor accused of sexually touching his young students, while one juror has been discharged.
The jury deliberating over Kyle James Henk Daniels, 22, was unable to continue deliberations after a jury member from the northern beaches did not attend the NSW District Court on Friday due to the COVID-19 outbreak. I can assure you there is no illness, it is just a location issue, Judge Kara Shead said.
Another juror on Friday was dismissed because of travel plans with flights booked for the evening.

The jury deciding the fate of a former Sydney swimming coach accused of sexually abusing his students has begun deliberating.
It follows a seven-week trial in which Kyle James Henk Daniels, 22, was accused of inappropriately touching nine of his students aged between five and 10 for his own sexual gratification.
He has vehemently denied touching the girls on or near their genitals while instructing them between February 2018 and February 2019 at a busy Mosman pool on Sydney s north shore.
