Kyle Daniels, who worked as an instructor at the Mosman Swim Centre, was arrested in March 2019 and hit with charges relating to nine girls he was accused of sexually abusing during lessons in 2018 and 2019. The 22-year-old denies any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to 26 charges before a seven-week trial that began in November 2020.

21:35 EDT, 14 February 2021 The retrial of a Sydney swimming coach accused of sexually assaulting eight young girls will get underway in October.  Kyle James Henk Daniels, 22, was ordered to undergo a retrial after a jury was unable to reach a verdict last December on 21 of the 26 charges initially laid against him by NSW Police. Daniels was cleared by the jury of five charges after a high-profile eight-week trial. Those five charges related to one girl, aged seven, and included accusations Daniels had indecently assaulted and had sexual intercourse with the child. His barrister Leslie Nicholls and Crown Prosecutor Karl Prince returned before Judge Kara Shead in the NSW District Court on Monday to set the trial down for October 11.

The jury deliberating over Kyle James Henk Daniels, 22, was unable to continue deliberations after a jury member from the northern beaches did not attend the NSW District Court on Friday due to the COVID-19 outbreak. I can assure you there is no illness, it is just a location issue, Judge Kara Shead said. Another juror on Friday was dismissed because of travel plans with flights booked for the evening.
