Reporter a highly emotional day in court today as the judge came down with his sentence fore sam ellis. There were long faces, a lot of tears and deep shies. The judge ultimately sentencing sam ellis to four years behind bars and now this all comesmes after the state recommended 12 years out of the 20year maximum penalty. Sam ellis will serve those foure years after the death of calvin lee recent wooton high graduates who back in june of 2015 left a house party where alcohol wasas served. Sa

That gives you a little bit of an idea of what the judge was thinking when he handed down this sentence. Now, before the judge handed down the sentence, sam ellis also took the stand, he addressed the victims families directly, telling them he was sorry that he wants to take responsibility for his actions. And he cant imagine what they are going through. Ill tell you, sitting in there for more than three hours, it was a very difficult sentencing hearing to sit through, very emotional. At one point, one of the victims parents took the stand. Alex merk addressed the judge, asking for a tough sentencing. While his father was speaking, the victims father, among the teenagers in the audience were in tears because he was just so heart, felt difficult to sit there and listen to the unimaginable loss theyre going through.
