st Class, William Tucker of Bedford and Leo Keninger of Ackley, were both aboard the U.S.S. Oklahoma when it capsized during the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Keninger was laid to rest on Saturday, June 26 in his hometown. He was 20-years-old at the time of his death. Tucker, who was 19-year-old when he was killed at Pearl Harbor, will be buried at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. Both men’s remains were identified through a U.S. Navy program launched in 2015 that aimed to return soldiers’ and sailors’ remains to their surviving family members. Flags will be at half-staff at the State Capitol, on flag displays within the Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state.
