LEMONT, IL A bicycle lane is set to start construction on McCarthy Road, after approval from the Village Board at its Monday meeting. The Lemont Village Board approved a construction engineering services agreement for federal participation for the McCarthy Road bike lanes and resurfacing.
According to board documents, the agreement will cost $167,907, of which 80 percent will be funded by federal funds. The village will use Novotny Engineering for the work.
6-foot wide paved shoulders in each direction and an on-street bicycle lane in the curbed roadway sections will be constructed on McCarthy Road, from Illinois Street to Walker Road, board documents state. Construction will begin in April.
