WASHINGTON: Air Force Research Laboratory is seeking AI capabilities to help analysts more rapidly pinpoint and/or disable jamming in the ‘noisy’ battlefields of the future as well as specific algorithms to enhance the F-15 fighter jet’s electronic warfare capabilities.
“At least to begin with, we expect the AI to accomplish what the analysts have been doing, but faster,” an AFRL spokesperson said in an email. “AI will augment our existing systems and help automate processes to analyze unfamiliar signals, determine potential sources, and employ adequate countermeasures when needed.

I often stick to my knitting: I write columns about things of interest to in-house lawyers or to lawyers generally.
But I’ve been writing this column for more than a decade now, heaven help me, and I occasionally branch out into other subjects.
I wrote one column a while back about whether my book, The Curmudgeon’s Guide to Practicing Law, and law firms in general, were “woke.” (My thesis was that both my book, and large law firms, insist that one strive for excellence. If excellence cannot be defined, or is an improper goal, then neither my book nor the firms are woke.) I had my adult children, far more in tune with wokeness than I am, read the column before I published it. Their response was violent: “You can’t publish that, Dad! You’ll get fired!”

From securing a representation, to addressing firmwide business planning in an ongoing matter, to financing the costs of a case, there are numerous business considerations that emerge during the lifecycle of a dispute.
Panelists at the recent Women Lead the Law event, sponsored by the Cardozo Women Alumni Group, explored this lifecycle in the “Business of Law” panel, touching on topics as varied as personal and firm-wide business development, the potential role of litigation finance, fair pricing of a lawyer’s efforts, and how women can advocate for their careers while building business.
The discussion was part of a weeklong conference celebrating Women’s History Month at Cardozo Law, co-sponsored by Cardozo’s Recent Alumni Leadership Council.
