Sidewalk and Bike Trail Project Connects to Lee District Park

Photo by Mike Salmon Kings Highway to Lee District Park in the Rose Hill area. This project will construct 2,670 feet of sidewalk along the south side of Telegraph Road from 500 feet north of S. Kings Highway to Lee District Park. The project will also widen the road and install curb and gutter, storm drainage pipe and a retaining wall. The construction schedule is slated to run from October 2020 to Summer 2021. The walkway project is on the opposite side of the Greendale Golf Course per coordination with Lee District Supervisor’s office at the time when Jeff McKay was the District Supervisor. according to Robin P. Geiger, Head of Communications at the Fairfax County Department of Transportation. This project will include a turn lane and it is one of several along Telegraph Road to keep things moving.

two women inside. only to be foiled by a wall of smoke. along the quiet tributaries of the south river where a blue heron pausees, the serenity was shattered before 2:00 p.m. that is when jean miller and her husband arrived home. i got out of the truck and said i am smelling smoke and burring plastic. reporter: they ran into their neighbor s home where barely visible smoke was coming out from under the door. her husband bravely attempted to rescue the two women inside. he went to the back door and opened it. all of the smoke was bellowing. reporter: he tied to get inside and jean tried, too. and. i tried to go in the house and to get to the couch where the lady was. i couldn t you can t breathe that smoke. reporter: firefighters found one woman in her 50s dead inside and another woman in her 80s was flown to shock trauma in critical . it took 60 firefighters to beat back the flames and smoke. the house is a total loss. several neighbors who had been home said the
