Town boss Mick McCarthy goes into Saturday’s third round FA Cup tie hoping a victory over Vanarama National League leaders Lincoln City and a run in the competition might help give the Blues’ up and down Championship season some impetus.
Town s youths proceeded to round four of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-2 win over Leicester. In truth it should have been more confortable, but Town made heavy weather against a side who were clearly inferior.
Town s reserves were comfortably beaten 3-1 by the Coventry second string at the Playford Road Training Centre this afternoon. The Sky Blues went three goals up before Academy striker Sam Morrow netted a consolation.
Tonight Town s youth side will look to start an FA Cup run to match, and hopefully improve on, last year s semi-final showing. They start with a home tie against Bristol City (Portman Road 5.30pm).
