The Pillowcase Project September is National Preparedness Month! The Pillowcase Project is a preparedness program for kids in grades 3-5. American Red Cross volunteers wil teach them about personal and family preparedness, safety skills, local hazards and basic coping skills. Upon completion, students receive a FREE sturdy pillowcase in which to build their personal emergency supplies kit.
Free Local History Talk: Hudson and Its Whaling Roots The Hendrick Hudson Chapter of the DAR and the library offer a local history talk by Carl Whitbeck. This talk is motivated by the three-day visit of the Descendants of Whaling Masters to Hudson and especially to the DAR chapter’s Historic Robert Jenkins House, as part of the Descendants’ annual conference.
Death Awareness Panel Discussion Red Hook Community Center and Seventh Sense Organization are hosting an event where thought leaders in our community discuss death & dying, share resources and answer questions. They will shed light on various aspects of death, including its impact on individuals and society and provide resources around their work. The panelists will explore topics such as community death care, green burials, death doulas, anticipatory grief and more.
