10 Miles Per Hour through the area, way under the 40mileperhour speed limit. On monday night a train heading to stockton hit a mud slide, sending one of the cars in to the alameda creek. Nine people were injured, four seriously. This morning ridership was down 38 on the first ace train to run since the derailment. It left stockton this morning headed toward san jose. Representatives from ace trains say many passengers may not have known that service had resumed and others may have been reluctant to take the train. We talked to some passengers today who told us theyre fairly confident of having a safe ride. Today, no, i figured today probably everybody is looking at the tracks, but come monday after the storm. Ridership picked up on the other morning trains but overall today ridership was down by about 20 . The badly damaged train that ended up in a creek will be headed back to stockton soon.
