Down on top of traffic that was flowing below. When we got to the scene, it was obvious that there were some fatalities and there were a lot of injuries and some people were able to get off the train. Reporter those people taken away in ambulances or standing wrapped in blankets along the road. About 40 miles from the seattle amtrak station where they boarded the very first run of a faster new route. Multiple cars and trucks were struck by train cars that left the train tracks and went down on to the road. Its terrible thing. Very upsetting even though when you seat pictures its pretty horrific at this point nobody in any of the vehicles is a fatal. Fatals are contained to the train. While the ntsb works to determine this crash it brings back memories of the crash that happened here in that Port Richmond just two years ago. Amtrak train 188 derailed in may 2015. Eight people were killed and more than 200 others were injured in that incident. The train was traveling 106 miles an hour in a 50 Miles Per Hour speed zone. Investigators determined that the engineer was distracted by an incident with a nearby train. In september, a judge dismissed charges against that engineer. There are three confirmed deaths deaths. More than 100 people injured. It is not yet known how many more bodies may be inside train cars that havent been searched yet. Reporter the man inside of that car was rushed to temple hospital with serious burns. Residents tell us this is a quiet neighborhood but it was anything but it 5 30 this morning when they heard a man yelling for hope. I spoke to one witness off camera who said the man who was burned was also bound and the man was begging for them to help them remove the restraints from his hands. And police and firefighters and fire marshall responded to the scene. We were here this morning when investigators photographed the car and searched for evidence nearby. I checked in with police, we were hoping to get an update on the victims condition and more about the unusual circumstances surrounding this fire and this neighborhood street.
