Has looked at cases ranging from health care to gun ownership. This is a little under an hour. Thank yall for coming. This feels like old home week for me. Not only being here again, having a chance to chat with marsha. We overlapped for 20 years in the Supreme Court press room. Marsha. You see her book the Roberts Court for struggle for the constitution. The struggle for the constitution. Not sort of whose constitution is it but who understands the real meaning of the constitution, right . You maimed this, just for those who havent had a chance to look at the book. Marcia made an interesting choice to frame her story of the Roberts Court through the lens of four major Roberts Court cases. One about guns. One about race. One about money and one about health care. So it doesnt get much more fundamental than that. And you can have lots of struggles for the constitutional implications of those subjects. So, ask you to elaborate a bit on that. Sure. The struggle is within the court over th
Ballpark 4 Million People a month get hired. This is a very dynamic economy. Youre not waiting for the retraining before you can fill a nursing vacancy. So if take you a look at that, i pulled up the data on it is plac displaced workers. Asking at the Interview Time and it look s back three years, so n average a year and a half, are you now. Employed, unemployed, out of the labor force. And does construction really look that different from the rest of the economy. And i could ask this question by looking at people who lost jobs in the Construction Industry and looking at people who lost jobs that were labeled in the construction and maintenance occupation. And these are whats called long tenured displaced workers. These are workers who had held their job for at least three years before losing the job. And what you can see, construction, the general economy, they look pretty much the same on this story. The idea that you have to focus on retraining, retraining is important, dont get me

Do you think your experience growing up at in apartheid south africa strengthen you in anyway for the kinds of courageous could positions you took on the court . No. [laughter] i mean, when you become a judge, you bring to that position your entire life history, and when you are sitting on the court, you work very hard to put aside your personal views. And so and gay marriage really was not part of my thinking in south africa. In fact, gay marriage had not been part of my thinking in the United States. So i did not make a onetoone connection. My life had been involved with issues of race discrimination, deeply involved in issues of gender discrimination to some extent, involved in issues of this ability law, but i can recall and i do not say this proudly, but looking at the extent of how much thi

Our new economy is dependent upon International Flights increasing. We cannot get more International Flights into San Francisco unless we move the l. A. San francisco commute off of the airlines and on to highspeed rail. 1 3, that is what were betting on. If we can get highspeed rail out there and move that off, we will include increase our air flights. That is our theory. I believe strongly in that.
