Less than two years after it was inaugurated, the much-touted Pragati Maidan tunnel is marred by seepage, cracks and waterlogging, with the PWD even declaring it a ‘potential threat to passengers’. The Indian Express hits the ground to see how the project is faring
On Saturday, the PWD issued a notice to L&T for “design flaws”, “serious technical and design deficiencies” and a “potential threat to the life of passengers” utilising the Pragati Maidan tunnel and underpasses daily. It also asked L&T which executed the project to deposit Rs 500 crore.
PWD in a notice to L&T about the Pragati Maidan tunnel alleged that with the passage of time, “glaring infirmities that were not only technical in nature but were also design flaws” were revealed.
