No arrests have been made in an armed robbery involving a knife Tuesday at the Walgreens in Louisa. According to Louisa Police Chief Greg Fugitt, Officers were dispatched to a reports of an armed robbery at the Walgreens around 3:40 PM. Walgreens employees advised the Lawrence Co 911 Center that a white male with dark hair, white shorts and no shoes nor shirt had presented a knife, demanded various medications and then began fleeing the store. The subject fled in a unknown direction in a 2002 purple/blue Nissan Xterra with license plate, WV 7SL910, which is linked with a theft complaint in Wayne Co, W.Va. The case remains under investigation by Louisa Police Det. Hunter James and Patrolman Teddy Newsome. The Louisa Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Lawrence Co Sheriff’s Office. Alabama Power experts helping survey for rare species

As winter wanes and spring approaches, Alabama Power biologists are helping environmental partners with field work aimed at protecting rare species around the state.
Recent work has varied – from an ongoing search in east Alabama for an elusive, tiny fish, to gathering genetic material related to a rare salamander in the Black Warrior River Basin, to seeking out the underground homes of a protected tortoise in southeast Alabama.
