Meteorologist Lauren Ricketts breaked down the start of a heat wave. It will be a warm one out there. Not only was it warm today but lucky for us we had showers and thunderstorms early this morning. But once we head into the rest of the workweek or weekend into the next week oh, boy well see things heat up. And here is the current temperatures out there. 87 is our temperature here in washington. 91 in frederick. 90 in leesberg. What constitutes a heat wave here in d. C. , three consecutive days above 90. D. C. Not so much, but if you are headed out to dinner partly cloudy, hot and humid a passing shower but this is what we are worried about tomorrow. Excessive heat. And we have a heat vise in place. Well let you know how hot it will get coming up. Cooling centers are opening up. One of the biggest in Prince Georges County. Scott macfarlane sat down with rosenstein to talk about the fup of that case. Reporter Rod Rosenstein oversaw thousands of local cases, serving since 2005 in three president ial administrations. Among the big local cases hes handled, the highprofile ongoing prosecution of deante careaway, the Prince Georges County Elementary School aid who has pleaded guilty to exploiting children to produce pornography. Rosenstein brought federal charges in that case and secured the guilty plea without needing to call any of the children to court as witnesses. When they are facing that federal prosecution, most defendants who are guilty will realize its in their interests to plead guilty. You dont have to go to court at all. Its really important to be able to protect children from being subject to the emotional stress. Rosenstein says an acting lead prosecutor will take over in his office and his case will not slow down. Careaway is scheduled for sentencing
