A fire that started early Friday morning at a Pensacola apartment complex damaged a total of 16 units and displaced 37 people from their homes.
Escambia County spokeswoman Laura Coale told the News Journal that 16 apartments were damaged in the fire, which started at about midnight at the Peachtree Commons Apartments in the 4600 block of Twin Oaks Drive.
Escambia County Fire Rescue responded to the scene at about 12:15 a.m. and worked for more than four hours on the three-alarm blaze, which was finally under control shortly before 4:30 a.m., according to Coale.
Two firefighters were treated at the scene by medical personnel.
