U S AG s Office launches law enforcement task force focused on human trafficking

ALBANY, N.Y. — Acting United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon announced her office, together with federal, state, and local law enforcement, has launched a law enforcement task force focused on combating human trafficking. The task force is comprised of members from the United States Attorney’s Office; Federal Bureau of Investigation; Homeland Security Investigations; Drug Enforcement Administration; New York State Police; the Police Departments of Albany, Colonie, Rotterdam, Schenectady, Troy; Sherriff’s Offices of the Counties Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, and Ulster; Rensselaer County Probation Department; and the Offices of the District Attorneys of Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and Saratoga Counties. The United States Attorney’s Office plans to expand the task force to cover all 32 counties it serves.

Man charged with buying nearly 15 pounds of marijuana through mail | News, Sports, Jobs

jcotton@timesobserver.com A Pittsfield man is behind bars on charges alleging that he purchased 15 pounds of marijuana in the mail. Brandon J. Fox, 29, 4735 Davey Hill Rd., was charged by Warren County Drug Task Force investigators on Jan. 13. Investigators report in the affidavit of probable cause that the postmaster in Pittsfield received an anonymous tip from a female that Fox had received a large amount of “drugs” in the mail. The postmaster learned that a package had been delivered to Fox the day prior and subsequently contacted the U.S. Postal Inspector in Pittsburgh. The postal inspectors on Jan. 7 “interdicted a package” addressed to Fix from “Scheels Sporting Goods in Nevada,” per the affidavit. “It was confirmed that this package was not shipped by Scheels and does not meet their shipping standards.”
