Ditch the masks? Businesses in South Bend area may still require them Others say it s optional

Several businesses and public institutions are still deciding whether to require masks after St. Joseph County’s order was canceled, but many didn’t hesitate Friday to ditch the practice. For at least the short term, people are likely to encounter a patchwork of mask rules. University Park Mall in Mishawaka and local hospitals, for example, will keep their mask requirements for now, while many restaurants and government buildings have already abandoned theirs. In announcing his decision Thursday night to lift the mask order, the county’s health officer, Dr. Robert Einterz, cited the CDC’s new recommendation that fully vaccinated people no longer need masks, in most cases.

Plans for second Dutch Bros spark ire from neighboring cafe

Plans for second Dutch Bros spark ire from neighboring cafe Dutch Bros Coffee has submitted plans to the City of Turlock to open a second location where Mundo’s Latin Grill is currently located (ANGELINA MARTIN/The Journal). Dutch Bros Coffee is hoping to open a second Turlock location after submitting plans to the City last month, but not everyone in town is excited.  Turlock’s first Dutch Bros location opened last September across the street from Stanislaus State and has been busy ever since. Now, the company is looking to add to its Turlock success with a double drive-through location in the Turlock Town Center. When Mundo’s Latin Grill eventually moves to another space within the shopping center, Dutch Bros hopes to take over the restaurant’s building and cater to even more coffee connoisseurs.
